i’m not sure what you mean by “allow to escalate” - i can think of two things that sorta look like this but seem quite different to me, one which is more like “allow to assume its ‘actual’ full intensity” and the other of which is more like “allow to build on itself reactively”

For newer emotions, fear of unknown was often the reason behind these loops of reactions for me. Thinking "Relax, it's nothing more than another emotion." had been helpful in these times.
