the first song is apparently alternating Em9 and F#m7 and m9 is not a chord i have fucked with so excited to incorporate this into my playing but can't experiment with it until tomorrow morning

i was avoiding doing this but now i'm trying to categorize the songs into major and minor to see patterns some of them seem genuinely ambiguous tho, if you never resolve to tonic could go either way 🧐

like ok need you now - F Am in the verse, C Em in the chorus. this could be either C major or A minor right? maybe closer to A minor in the verse and closer to C major in the chorus?

A lot of pop and rock music are modal, rather than major or minor - and some move through different modalities as well. Really different moods, once you start to recognise them.
