How do we say the same thing with different vibes? This one gives off a hyperprecise technical vibe and/or hyperarticulated vibe

"i'm having feelings and they're not about you or this situation" "i'm having a(n emotional) flashback"

Those both seem good for some cases, tho they feel like they commit me to more than I want to say" A lot of times I don't know where the line between it being "about the person/situation" vs. not is

I could come to like the flashback one, as I establish more of a link between reactions and past events

how about "probably not entirely about you or this situation"?

i mean it's tricky, the thing you want to say just doesn't have a short and widely-understood name other than "triggered" so you have to go into weird amounts of detail depending on how much shared context with whoever you're talking to

Yeah, definitely. Part of what I'm psyched about here is that maybe there could be pithy-but-not-too-context-heavy ways to at least gesture at the thing
