increasingly suspecting that context collapse is the internet’s actual worst feature. we just should not have this much access to the conversations of other people. many different conversations need to be had in many different *separate* venues

so... less social media, more forums? they both have their uses of course, and they aren't the same uses

twitter has breadth, forums have depth this site is great for bouncing ideas around hundreds of different people, not so great i think for really developing them, which is something i've found forums to to very good for

well, i grew up mostly on tiny forums, well below dunbars number in active users and tbh, the smaller the better. on big forums stuff tends to get buried in the deluge. too fast to have proper discussions
