what do you think of the term HSP ('highly sensitive person')
Conversation
i've literally only ever heard kanye west use the term & i've heard people imitating him use it
and it's definitely the type of concept that surely has like a 3 week shelf life if it ever gets into 'the culture'
all of that that said
i think it's a thing? would be into takes

like if I just say "i'm an HSP" with no caveats is this a shibboleth or cultural signal of me being in some group
feels kind of like calling yourself an empath

i've heard the term before in hippie communities, idk if it's common enough that it has clear signaling value but sooner or later it's gonna be a pretentious way of saying empath. i also think it's pointing at a real thing, which maybe "anxious / preoccupied" is better label for
IMO empath & anxious/preoccupied don't quite convey the sensory aspect of HSP?

Yeah, while autism does.
