it’s sort of impossible to actively assert, on social media, that something doesn’t matter. if your “X doesn’t matter omg stop talking about it” tweet gets 1k RTs and 10k likes... all of that is contribution to X discourse; it’s a self-disproving tweet

as a control system twitter does not give you any active way to make a topic of discourse smaller. you can only ignore it or make it bigger. you can’t, like, cancel out other people’s likes and RTs. downvotes wouldn’t really accomplish this either. “disinformation” streisands
