so actually the NFT use case that makes the most sense to me so far is NFT nudes. insofar as the NFT architecture imposes artificial scarcity on top of infinitely copyable information, at least an NFT nude gets to be like “this is the special copy that’s just for you big boy 😘

Is artificial scarcity bad? People who don’t want to pay get access to the thing and people who do want to pay also get access to the thing.

idk i feel conflicted about it. i have the same feeling of conflict about artificial scarcity in video games - like games where you can pay real money for special gear or whatever. it feels like a particularly degenerate form of rent-seeking

Positions in status hierarchies have real scarcity, but by default don't have a real world representation. Things like super branded handbags or shirts are machines for summoning them into the physical world. NFTs are a more efficient realization of the same business.

They should fit any business that primarily earns money by 'building a brand.' Twitch streamers, camgirls, youtubers. Basically anything that can power a patreon or equivalent.
