if you meet the buddha on the road ask him how his son feels about being named “unwanted” and then abandoned

now i’m imagining a wicked-style retelling of the events of the buddha’s life from his son’s pov called “unwanted”

men will literally sneak out of their palaces to wander the lands seeking true insight into suffering instead of being a father to their children

imagine seeing these perfect little feet and thinking "this little guy's really gonna get in the way of my quest for enlightenment huh"

I was wondering earlier today what kind of spiritual practice might have been invented (for example) by mothers of small children.

nearly everything I’ve read on meditation, spirituality, personal transformation, etc, was written by childless men
I can’t believe how little of it is still relevant now that I’ve become a mother twitter.com/made_in_cosmos…

when someone starts telling some story of enlightenment or magic success or unity or divine purpose etc. my little people sniffer part of my brain always starts to ask a) how do others around them feel and how is that person to them b) where did they get the resources to do this

I think the best people to ask are neither really close friends/partners nor enemies. the best people to ask are the ones who are just far enough to not be completely pulled; just close enough to know; just friendly though to care; just long enough to mature their reads and views
