we are similar in many ways so it’s interesting where we are different

i realized something while reflecting on some past conflicts i've had with people
sometimes when friends sent me fight requests, I accepted them to be polite
because (in these specific egs i'm thinking of), to decline to fight would be to create a sort of chasm between us

like even when someone is insulting me I'm like "ok I can maybe see how you might think that way but give me some context here"

hmm i can see how this could make sense coming from a background where you’re not afraid of attackers singlehandedly ruining your reputation 🤔 most of the people who attack you seem to be pissants tbh

I had some rep-ruiny-ish conflicts as a teenager and you could interpret my massive body of work / friend network etc as a sort of hedge against that

dismissive / avoidant be like: whatever bring it on. i don’t care. *takes deep drag on cigarette* you cannot attack me in a way that matters
