my take on "abolish the family" is that kids really shouldn't be at the mercy of 1-2 adults my dad did a lot of psychologically abusive shit that left no marks and could not be unambiguously described as such to adults; an option to move out would have helped where CPS wouldn't

It's funny how "it takes a village to raise a child" is still a common idiom, even though we don't practice that anymore

continue to find the raised/unraised binary frustrating. "It takes a village to *properly* raise a child" would be less grating, but honestly I'd probably still complain. I'm just like this, I guess.
