What're other fantasy books as evocative, poetic, humane, beautiful, creative as Name of the Wind?
Conversation
i had exactly this question and went on a long fantasy binge after reading kingkiller looking for my next fix. nothing was 100% satisfying but some stuff i ran into that i liked:
- peter brett’s demon cycle
- n.k. jemisin’s inheritance trilogy (not eragon)

Have you tried the Malazan series by Steven Erikson?

i have not! i think someone on twitter was really excited about this series...
Definitely would recommend. Does depictions of male friendships particularly well (amongst much else!), which i think youd appreciate.

I love the depictions of male friendship in Kingkiller!
At some point Kvothe says something like "[Wil and Sim] were the kinds of friends everyone wanted, and almost nobody deserved"
🥲😭🥲
