a lot of people in the bay area sold a decent fraction of their soul for money but surprisingly few of them seem to know how cheaply they can buy it back massive soul arbitrage opportunity imo

Also I find myself wanting to push back on this framing out of the horror of the principle. Like, you can sell your soul to Silicon Valley, then buy it back at 10x markup on a weekend retreat.

I really dislike "selling your soul" as a framing. It is not dysfunctional in all cases (the compelled informant <> Stasi relationship fits fine for example), but in most cases where it is applied I consider it a dysfunctional framing.
