it's interesting to try and map out the fretboard in real time – I know the E and A string pretty well directly, and I can figure out what any note anywhere on the fretboard is through relative reasoning. 15th fret B string? Uh. that's same as 3rd fret. so. C, C#, D. and so on

hm no not quite I'm looking for someone/something to be like "YO what notes are in A Minor 7" and I'm like "uh... A... let's see, a minor third from A is a C... and the fifth is... E. And the minor 7 is half a step down, that's a G. so A C E G"

the intention is that eventually I can think of any chord (let's try... B minor! What's in B minor? B... minor third from B is... D... and the fifth is F#. So B, D, F#) and immediately, instinctively know exactly what notes are in it. I imagine pros do this effortlessly
