open-ended question: how do y'all feel generally about
1) paying your friends to do stuff
2) being paid by your friends to do stuff?
comfortable? awkward? feels like it makes the friendship messier? feels like it enriches the friendship? never tried it? something else?

Depends on the scope. For most casual stuff I like to give and receive snippets of work as a gift, with no obligations, no expectations, etc. Happy to chat freestyle with friends. But like if someone wants to Hire Me for a Job that’s different

For me putting down cash is like a kind of blood ritual - if you pay to hire me, in a sense, for the duration of that ritual, I will still be friendly but I will also be ruthless. It’s like summoning my inner demon-god. I actively recommend against this for lots of people
