context: (my reasoning here is only tip when i’ve been served by waitstaff who plausibly have wages that are substantially tips)

oh wait actually - so since lockdown i’ve switched to a heuristic of not tipping when i just pick up an order, idk if this makes sense like theoretically now i’d only tip if i sat down and had a waiter / waitress

my fav places and cheap places get 15-20%; expensive get 10% Ftr tho I tip 25-35% on delivery in pandemic before pandemic it's 20-25% delivery and 0/10% on takeout

As someone who used to work curbside pickup pre-pandemic. Yes, I made more per hour, but they kept my shit to 4 or fewer hours on those days so tips were essential for me making enough to have made my trip to work even worth it that day.

Plus, I worked as a hostess otherwise and made significantly less than every other position in the restaurant with hours and tips combined so curbside pickup days were my most profitable
