i really should’ve emphasized the second and third parts of the question: how can you tell that you’re resting / relaxing and what does it feel like to rest relax, concretely? e.g. “i feel at peace. there is no tension in my body. my chest and stomach feel warm. i feel light”

there's a state i slip into when appreciating nature that i can confidently call rest. also, post-meditation hypnagogic places feel super restful to me. a state of quiet connection and oxytocin is a big one- cuddling for example all are inherently pleasurable and w/o tension

often they are best following activities that involve vacilation between tension and release like exercise, sex, dance
