wait so ur telling me The Fed is actually a kind of bank with no money in it and is not part of the FEDeral government? and its shares are owned by banks. what the fuck

ok so far it seems like the economy is a perpetual motion machine powered by a cycle of laziness and trust i trust you to honor of piece of paper, im too lazy to ship u gold coins. ur too lazy to fully check if im trustworthy so u trust my friends

a lot of it is like this but i don't think it's completely circular - USD is legal tender so you can use it to settle debts (e.g. you can't pay your student debts in bitcoin or gold), and you also need it to pay your taxes to the gubbmint
