you ever get emotional at scenes in a book where a character just like. stays over at someone’s place. for a while. and it’s just not a big deal? they just house em and feed em and no money changes hands and this is just normal?

at my old place we hosted visiting friends for a few days but we had a house policy for charging if someone stayed longer than like... 2 weeks i think?
i get why we had it (countering tragesy of the commons) but still something a little sad about it

i stayed over at a friend’s place in boston for 2 weeks once and i think i felt like i was annoying them towards the end but we didn’t know how to talk about it and it just felt bad
didn’t help that it was their parents’ place 😬

there is something very beautiful and comforting about having the means and the disposition to give friends a place of refuge and safety from whatever they need shelter from

I am into this because I had to leave my apartment a couple years ago after a guest never left and was hostile to me ;-; he ended up taking my room
but... Ugh.... How nice while it be to not have to have a policy
