I'm confident that the work I do day to day creates some amount of value, but I'm not confident that it creates more value than what I'm paid, and I'm pretty skeptical that it creates more value than what the company captures. If society doesn't really win, is that positive?

I'm imagining a standard positive case being something like you build something and sell it and people buy it because they value it more than the cost, a clear net positive for society, and neutral being you dig ditches and fill them in for a paycheck
