I just think thereβs a huge difference btwn aping views in common currency & owing a debt to intellectual tradition. Perfect novelty may or may not be achievable, but functionally distinct views & practically unique reasoning processes are. Subconscious imitation varies of degree

Recycling, even done consciously, but directed by some agentic and innovative intellectual process is in practice going to go somewhere way more interesting than thoughtless imitation.
