once upon a time i brainstormed ideas about how to organize a commune with all my dope friends where we could raise children together relatively unimpeded by the demands of normal jobs and one of my only ideas was that we should be some kind of consulting / coaching agency

it's like the old "rationalists should have secret identities" - if you're in the job of going meta real hard on human nature or w/e you still need an object-level pursuit that grounds and tests your insights and i don't really know where to look for that yet

i don't think it's overgeneralizing too much to say that this corner of twitter attracts the sort of people who wouldn't be and aren't happy in traditional jobs working for bosses etc. but there are so many of us! we could just make jobs for each other instead!

obviously these thoughts are all inspired by the recent stonks shenanigans. like yes let’s talk about making money off silly trades, great but also, as they say, “if you’ve penetrated the veil of maya so much why aren’t you rich” (he said, to himself)

same, honestly, I've shifted from "I want my little soft place together with people I love and the rest should just be direct action organizing" to "it's kinda fun to play games tho and the ppl I'm with may just pull things off"

The logistical challenge is always alignment. That is, sufficient conversation to find areas of authentic passion, relevant skill and market need. Too much talk time is spent in a state where parties feel asymmetric interest. This makes further talk high effort and unsustainable.
