Humans need sex & the connection that comes with it. How having compassion that leads to the sex positive leap we have to cheapen it is beyond me. And again, not against casual relationships or sex by any stretch of the imagination.

Unlike hunger, nothing bad happens if you ignore the drive. You can save yourself for 3 star experiences if you want. Not everyone wants to do that, tho. They will happily have the sex equivalent of top ramen and I think that should be okay.

i legitimately am not sure i buy this depending on what you mean by "need." i think some people experience sex as a need and some don't. i have only barely technically had sex and i don't think i'm noticeably less happy than anyone else around these parts 😛

my take is lots of people (but not all) experience it as an important form of human connection, and at the societal level it makes sense to try and proactively help people make sexual connections as part of happy, healthy lives. the word "need" makes sense in that context.

I understand the POV of people who observe that the "need" for sex is not equivalent to the "need" for oxygen or food, but I also think the observation that people have social "needs" is a pretty reasonable one.
