there's a big common component i feel like people don't talk about. if i had to name the skill it would be something like... quickly and efficiently building and rebuilding ontologies?

not even conclusions just so much as like a mental landscape of what's even happening, what the relevant things are, how the relevant things interact. most of the students in the classes i TA'd for in college didn't really have an ontology of the subject, even in linear algebra

god i know im fucked when i read "ontology of the subject" as like "oh that's what Hegel was doing" and not like, what you meant lmao (fwiw i saw the same thing when i TA'd a C course)
but yeah -- maintaining a space of connections between mental objects that can be traversed
