it IS critical thinking. there is NO DIFFERENCE between the mental activity a "conspiracy theorist" is engaging in and the mental activity of making sense of the world that we are all engaging in all the time

The greater the amount of what is currently known about the world that must be falsified (and not merely false) - the less likely it is. That plans go sideways frequently - and the longer a scheme requires perfect co-ordination, the less plausible it is.
