I'm still digesting the object-level aspects of this, as a very distant, multiple degrees removed, outsider/bystander.
Meta-level:
Me: โneeds 500% more global wayfinding.โ

The way he characterizes the limitations of meditation pains me, even though itโs an accurate characterization for meditation-minus-global-wayfinding. Kinda mixed branding for โmeditationโ(tm) though maybe net good for people, for those current limitations to be described.

I haven't read the email, but I did watch the inal ~16 minutes of his recent Guru Viking interview, which covers roughly the same points.
I felt really bad for him and hope he continues to sort things out.

And for that reason among others, I'm reluctant to say what I think. On the other hand, I think it's important that it be said somehow (ideally without reference to him, but here we are).

I do think that his fucked-upness and the meditation system he taught (teaches?) are at minimum synergistic.
This is not specific to his stuff. It's all the modern vipassana stuff. That was speciically designed to have the negative effects he experienced.

"specifically designed" in the sense that vipassana was designed to renounce / cut off the world and so forth? (i just read your orbit essay so now i'm interested in testing my understanding of your writing on vividness ๐)
