I wonder if this is inherent (women might be naturally more selective) or if there is something that could be done about the structure of dating apps that could get men's sex appeal across a lot better

dating apps are too text-based! v insubstantial and unphysical. you'd get a much better sense of men (well, everyone) by watching short video clips of them speaking and moving. not that i think this would help most men's dating success 😬
i'm inclined to believe that the real problem is that society no longer has any mechanisms operating at scale for producing genuinely attractive men, and instead mostly has mechanisms that crush men into tiny little bits
