Everyone describes post-rat as a vibe or an aesthetic, but I would say that between Meaningness and Seeing Like A State, there is an actual, substantive critique of rationalism. It's not just a vibe.

It's a very loose cluster. Similarities include: caring about aesthetics, liking the Seeing Like a State lens, being into meditation/nonselfcoercion/IFS, treating emotions and sensations as really important data, being concerned that being too rationalist is emotionally unhealthy

I think the vibe came after the critique? But I could be mixing up my chronology, or simply not privy to the genesis of the subculture. But every group that unites around some shared insight or principle develops its own aesthetics and shibboleths.

yeah you've got it right. the critique is a couple years older. most of the people making the initial critique didn't participate in the vibe.
