in retrospect maybe a memetic advantage i don't talk or think much about having is that i was AGI-pilled for long enough that i know what having a totalizing narrative about the most important thing feels like from the inside and i know what it feels like to step out of it

Heh this might be the first time I've seen a recovering person accurately identify "totalizing" as the main sin of AGI-pilled types (and all similarity transforms thereof). It's also why I've tended to dismiss category theory (likely unfairly) as uninteresting because totalizing.

in hindsight it feels like i studied physics bc i wanted answers but instead of thinking about the real questions that bothered me i went straight for β€˜how does the universe work’ it’s so surreal (and dumb) to think about now

I guess the opposite would be number theory. Weird isolated pointillist results that don’t add up to any sort of grand-unified satisfying theory.
