I’m curious why there’s pushback to the notion that not every kink needs to be indulged. No one is getting hurt in a straight forward way if you privately eat your own shit and jack off to it. But what are the knock on effects of normalizing that?

I think there's some complicated ground where wanting something off-color/perverse doesn't make you a bad or broken person, but you also don't have to indulge or explore that desire, and enabling it might be net negative.

I've been reading these threads and am also still unsure how there's so much pushback against what feels like a pretty reasonable "might some kinks ultimately be (individually or societally) net-damaging to indulge?" why should we expect this to have an obvious/clear answer...?

there is a style of tweeting that for lack of a better word i'll call "stating honest beliefs that undermine other people's coping mechanisms" and i feel more conflicted about it now than i used to

kinda - it’s maybe not a good idea to get too specific idk but i suspect it’s more like “i am not bad for having and wanting sex the way my parents (or w/e) taught me i was”
