in college i took a class on special relativity and did more poorly than i wanted to and felt vaguely bad about it and i think that might be why i haven’t made any attempt to learn relativity since even though i grew up reading about it constantly

really weird how even in QFT the manifold structure of spacetime is just taken for granted
feels to me like it should be emergent / derived for the theory to be “truly quantum” or something?

Ooh good question, I'm not sure. That would be appealing, but I'd never made that connection before (I had still pictured the foam "filling" space rather than generating it?)

skimmed the intro to the paper not the whole thing it was a really long thesis
