maybe it's worth being more explicit about some of my beliefs about using twitter, open them up to feedback
for some insane reason, over 6,000 people follow this account. i believe that i have a responsibility to these people to not write tweets that will make their lives worse

it's maybe arrogant to believe that my tweets will meaningfully affect reaxers but they obviously do, people have told me so in DMs repeatedly, and conversely other people's tweets meaningfully affect me
we are all having real effects on each other with tweets all the time

part of why i stayed off twitter in december for so long is because i couldn't think of anything to tweet that passed this bar. i just felt bad and i couldn't imagine tweeting anything other than "still feel bad" and this just didn't seem... helpful?

i think people mostly have a very narrow model of how one might inflict harm through words alone and like, not to exacerbate anyone's insecurities about tweeting, but i think there are lots of subtle ways to harm people through words alone and i'd rather avoid them

otoh there are ways of holding this attitude that are like excessively tying myself up in knots trying to avoid inconveniencing other people slightly etc. etc. kind of thing
but idk i think it still matters tho. i don't reflexively tweet whatever i want on this acct anymore

I have a lot of rules about what I do and don't say / tweet, and I think most of them are probably good, but I'll occasionally stretch them and/or try to find ways to get around them without violating their spirit in a principle like "intimacy is good" or something.
