why do people sometimes index threads? i've never found them helpful in navigating long threads, and when writing threads i always forget or lose my place

the main reason i do it when i do it is that if a tweet from the thread pops up isolated in someone's TL it's clearer that it's part of a thread so they know there's a thread to look at if they're curious about it
