it’s interesting to consider the role of gender in the character archetypes of Terry and Rosa. Terry is the big, tall muscular behemoth of a man who’s a total softie. Rosa is a murderous flower. Imagine gender-swapping the characters- it would be less compelling, too flat

there's also something infantilizing about the fact that rosa can get away with stuff like pulling a knife that terry can't. it actually kinda suggests that nobody really takes rosa, and by extension women in general, seriously as potential sources of violence

Good insight, I'm not sure "female fantasy" is the right call though, many females have a completely different view and still prefer manly men for lack of a better shortcut term. It looks more like a manifestation of the idiotic gender politics that's been plaguing the mainstream

for a few years now, which is a reactionary over correction of traditional gender dynamics and roles, which I'm still on the fence about if the over part of it is largely due to how they were portrayed in 1900's films and other entertainment media, which influenced the academics
