this came (in typical epiphanic fashion) mid acid trip, as my sense that I was Truly Communing with my partner began to fade and I graspingly asked "but... how will we know we understand..."
you can only send and receive, hoping that similar mental constructs are being evoked

great point; I definitely let some of my anxieties (both general and specific to that particular time) color my framing
it's surprisingly reassuring to consider combatting this sense of separation by deliberately cultivating shared experience and understanding
