This is pretty much a "light speed says no" situation, though there are some cool things like jammr that add specific extra lag, to allow you to be out of time by precisely one bar, so you're kind of in time.

nuts, i've never done this calculation before but light takes 16ms to travel 3000 miles huh. hmmmm. that's just about noticeable i guess?

Yeah, and it's worse than that. Light in fibre optics is only like 0.7c, plus all the other hardware and software delays.
You can probably pull something off if you stick to low tempo stuff, but you won't be tight and can't be fast
