the second-to-last time i tried getting into lifting i noticed after awhile that i was "bracing" myself against the actual experience of using my muscles, out of a long habit of only ever having been forced to use them growing up turns out not doing that made it better

how i approach weightlifting become more how like i approach meditation and vice-versa (in different ways). asymptotically moving from doing multiple things and into doing one thing, all over

I noticed I used to do this as a form of goodhearting. I thought the goal was to "lift the weight", so I would break form and use the wrong muscles, instead of focusing on the goal of strengthening muscles.

See people doing this with "stretching" all the time It's not where your limbs end up that counts, it's what your muscles feel. Possible to go from 0 to 100% stretch with barely any any visual change (in certain positions)
