I've been watching C-drama clips on YouTube as a treat and it took me a bit of time to make that mental frame transition from "it's so weird that everyone's Chinese" to "well duh everyone is Chinese!"

ah man wow would that be a weird experience for me. i have very specific associations with watching chinese-language TV, practically only ever did it at my mom's family's place when we were visiting and i was very bored
Yeah I was practically raised on 还珠格格 like most Chinese 90s kids 😂 so there's a nostalgia factor there with those Palace dramas!
I hadn't thought to watch them until recently and was like "this is the most Asian women I have seen in one place since I was last in China"
