i don’t think i’ve actually told this story anywhere in writing, so: the reason my math blog is called “annoying precision” is that when i was 15 i went to a math camp and the head instructor, glenn stevens, said in the intro lecture “mathematicians are annoyingly precise”

it depends on what you mean by “more”! the squares have e.g. natural density 0 which is a decent way to formalize the intuitive idea that they get more and more sparse “more” can just mean a lot of things. there’s a reason my math blog is called “annoying precision”

at math camp i learned that number theory is very good and also that if i tried very hard and believed in myself i could get away with not showering for 4 days (it was my first time being away from my parents for that long)
