aella in particular happens to be one of the most symbolic people i follow, maybe the most symbolic (mason's another strong contender). majority of people replying to her tweets are not in any real sense talking to her, they've made her a symbol of whatever in their heads

The Masses Of Twitter do this thing where literally anything you do or say will be interpreted in the most unflattering light possible. I keep thinking "Oh if I just give more information people will understand", but this isn't true - people have already made up their minds.

IME, this isn't a choice we make, so it's impossible to avoid. When people become "popular" they become symbols. So either avoid human interaction, and disappear, or learn to deal with the reality of human consciousness. ;)

this is true but also I wouldn't feel *too* sorry for her because her symbolic role is also earning her tons of money and I'm not sure those two facets are severable from each other
