tangent math question, is there a one-time-pad-like thing for message authenticity instead of secrecy? (arguably the examples of respect/anger are about authenticity, not secrecy)

yes, a one time pad is simply a forward-secret preshared key algorithm. keys can be used for both encryption and signing, depending on whether private or public keys get shared. the thing is there isn't much use for a forward secret public key, unless you may be impersonated
