okay so this thing. this nerds vs. jocks thing. where does it come from? i picked it up from TV and movies and shit. who was patient zero? were a bunch of filmmakers bullied a lot in high school? did their bullies have dads who were WWII or vietnam vets or something?

my own actual experience fwiw is that every jock i knew in high school was a nice guy who thought i was funny although i was also secretly jealous of them for being hotter than me they really liked me when i joined choir and they found out i could sing

anime is cool because there just isn't a nerd / jock dichotomy. it's more of like a... hmm winner / loser thing? the people on top are just good at everything. they have the highest grades *and* are the best at sports *and* run clubs or the student council or w/e

also, what I took away from being a utilitarian was "I can't predict the future well enough, so my actions don't align with my morals... but you know whose do? virtue ethics believers" rationalism -> sob squad himbo gang utilitarianism -> virtue ethics
