Math nerds of Twitter, how can I get more interested / engaged in learning calculus? Reading about the broader ideas behind it has helped, but even if I just drill problem sets, it doesn't feel like I understand what in the world is happening as I complete them.

can you say more about what the problem sets are like and what it feels like to complete them?

Still early in my intro Calc class, so it's all finding limits, justifying limits, finding derivatives. I suppose completing them feels like running down lists of rules/laws, hoping I picked the applicable ones and simplified thoroughly enough

there is sort of a "learning your times tables" feel to some of the early stuff that is maybe unavoidable. do they feel hard or just kind of pointless?

Right now it’s just tough, but I wouldn’t say pointless. A lot of the other responses I’ve gotten state that it’ll just feel more meaningful as I go further into the subject, so I’m holding out for that
