feels like i’m getting away with something by talking about math on here. like it’s... not fair to everyone else somehow? 🤔 something i don’t like about the idea of having a conversation “in public” with a potentially really high barrier to entry

one of the nice things about talking about feelings and childhoods and shit is literally everyone has feelings and literally everyone had a childhood, they’re universal
meanwhile when it comes to math some of you are / were grad students and some of you have math anxiety 😔

there’s something i like about the idea of bringing to twitter this more technical side of myself i’ve been leaving out and/but also i don’t wanna make people feel excluded or inadequate if i don’t have to. hmm. thoughts?

Fwiw, math and I don't get along. At all.
But I love to hear anybody talk about stuff they're interested in, stuff that they're passionate about. That interest shines through for me, even if I don't understand the equations etc

I am pro-math threads for the record
Not because I have any math background or ability to contribute, but because people talking about things that interest them makes me happy and makes my life/twitter-feed more interesting

I studied math in college coz I think math is awesome. But college was not a great time for me mentally, and I stopped putting in the effort, and haven't gone back to math since. Your thread gave me some hope that one day I can go back to a thing I love.
