poll 2 of 2: what's your ~gender | do you feel like your social environment is pressuring you to have kids or not to have kids (let's count neutral as "no")
e.g. do you feel like if you told your friends you wanted to have kids that they'd be supportive or make fun of you
poll 3 of 2, for people who want kids only (pls do not click on a random option to see the results i will screenshot them):
what's your ~gender | would you feel comfortable bringing up that you want kids on the first date
there's very high pressures on female employees (and *especially* academics and startup founders) to not have kids - VCs and tenure committees are known for believing that having kids is seen as a detraction from a career
I wonder how much of the social environment is either career or economic pressure (“wait until you finish grad school, have a high paying career, and savings!”)
Friends and social environment are different here. I think my friends would support me, but the general abstract culture would not (e.g. Women are valued based on career performance/feminism and for my hypothetical wife to have kids would be a status blow for her).
