i read once that the onset of female puberty has been climbing down over the last several decades (due to just more calories or some shit? don't remember) and in lots of societies it's historically been as high as 16-18 which uhhh might explain some things

well so there's a standard type of post that is like "it was super fucked up how i as a girl was sexualized by the men around me immediately upon hitting puberty at age 11" and you have to wonder if that means age 11 is in some sense unnaturally early to hit puberty

Yeah i recall learning this. My school textbooks definitely claimed 12-16 is "normal" and I sorely wished I was one of the lucky ones who only get cursed at 16
