So I'm learning to play Go and I've never felt like more of an idiot. Quite a punishing game.

the initial learning curve is surprisingly steep especially if you’re starting out on 19x19. good luck!

Started on 9x9 until I felt that I understood a few basics, then jumped to 19x19. A few books helped a ton, and now I don't feel like I'm drowning against 18-25kyu bots.
Honestly it's been thrilling. You might know where this thread came from:

What does it mean to be 'tempered in a hundred battles'?
You cannot expect to do all your studying and gain all your knowledge from books.

nice. might wanna be careful with playing too much against weak bots - eventually you’ll learn their weaknesses and ruthlessly exploit them in a way that won’t generalize to even weak humans
also if you’re looking for exercises i like the ones that come with smartgo kifu

Weak Bots are great for fast iteration, learning why something doesn't work, but aren't good for finding what _does_ work.
Will definitely be checking out smartgo kifu
