my pro writing tip is to never give anything a stupid, temporary name while you think of a good real name, because the stupid name will just end up being the name you use in the story and you'll hate yourself

sometimes i wish we didn't collapse so many compound phrases into single words. adding the hyphens/spaces back in can really make language come alive again! like oclock ā†’ "of the clock" (as opposed to "of the sundial or of the bell") and recognize ā†’ "re-cognize"
