There's no "factual" answer to this particular question, nor any factual prediction that it makes which would differ between the answers.
There is a convenience for writing relevant formulas without exceptions, and a consensus on the answer as a mathematical convention.

It makes the prediction that Gamma(1) = 1. And I don't think "convenience" is the word to describe it, 1 is the right value of Gamma(1) is 1 no matter how you look at it.
