i think we've mostly forgotten how much those transitions sucked (those of us who went through them) but for me the transition from college to post-college in particular was such a jarring shock, i went from having all my social needs met to having none of them met

Because we’re fixated on the elite model. It’s perfectly reasonable to move halfway across the country (and incur mega debts) to attend Harvard, but not to attend Directional State U. Also, nobody talks about how hard it is to change community, so good on you for bringing it up.
