My kids made up this type of promise that has agreed-upon consequences for breaking it (usually that they have to eat something they dislike). I actually really like this idea of embedding consequences into promises, like “I $10 promise I’ll call tomorrow.”

Though they call this, of all things, a “butt promise” So it goes like: Kid1: “Alright, I promise I’ll do it!” Kid2: “OK, but do you *butt* promise?” Kid1: “Three pickles.”
